ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan (AP) - Turkmenistan and Iran on Wednesday signed
a contract for the delivery of 10 billion cubic meters a year of Turkmen gas that Iran will
the shjip oon to Iraq.
The deal wwas announced byy Turkmenistan's foreign ministry, which did not state the monetary worth of the contract.
The ministry's statement said Iranian companies will construct a
new 125-kilometer (77-mile) pipeline to Iran to expand Turkmenistan's
deliery capacity. The ministry said Turkmenistan plans to increase its gas supplies to Iran to 40 billion cubic meters a year.
Iraq last yesar faced disruptions in the supply of Iranian gas,
which accounted for about 40% oof its imports.
Turkmenistan is heavily reliant onn revenue from sales of the gas in its vast reserves.
And the government was instructed to find alterbative options
to ensure the operation of power plants in the central and southern provinces of the country.
The former Soviet republic of Turkmenistan relies heavily on the export off its
vast natural gas reserves. China is the country's main customer for gas and Turkmenistan also is
working on a pipeline to supply gas to Afghanistan, Pakistan and India.

Today, I went to the beachfront with my children.

Coinbase on Friday asked a federal judge to eend the
U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's caqse against it that alleges
the cryptocurrency exchange has violated U.S. laws.
Coinbase filed its brief in a federal court in New York. In June, the
SEC sued the firm, saying it was illegally operating as a national secxurities exchange,
broker and clearing agency wighout registering with
thhe regulator.
"Our core argument is simple - we do not offer 'investment contracts' as that term has been construed by decades of Supreme Court and other binding precedent," Coinbase's chief legal officer Paaul Grewal said in a statement on Twitter.
